Gallon Crock from Late 1800's

I am hoping you can help me with this crock. It appears to be between 1 and 2 gal. in volume. It has a wire bale handle and a lid. I am not positive lid goes with it or not. Only markings I can see are on outside very lower bottom edge. Stamped Patented Feb. 11, 1886 or 1896.
