Interesting Majolica Owl Mark on My Teapot NEW
by: Anonymous

I have a turtle teapot with the three-sided diamond and an attached circle at the bottom. There is also a line attaching the two sides of the diamond at the end with the circle. Looks like I'm one of a few people with questions. The teapot was obtained from a lady who collected teapots in London. She said she had had it for well over 30 years. Help! Thanks.

The most I've learned was they are to show use, that they are made with true majolica pottery (clay)………... Majolica pottery Marks!…Diamond with numbers and letters are English China technique to keep track in history….. anything other marks added to a majolica piece can be artist ?

interesting mark follow up NEW
by: Anonymous

I recently found a creamer with this mark. In the center of the diamond the letter R or H appears, also in the circle at the top there appear to be a crown ? or W marking in the center. The pattern on the piece is a clam type shell and on the other side an expanding shell pattern which have held some type of sea animal something like a garden snail only from the sea!outside of creamer is green at bottom then yellow background blue clam and a brighter yellow with a swirl of light maroon and blue behind. Some dark green spots and has a maroon / brown handle.
